About the Course
Termination for medical reasons (TFMR) is a deeply personal and complex experience. This session offers foundational guidance for providers navigating TFMR care— exploring clinical context, legal considerations, and grief-informed practices to support patients through difficult decisions.
Learning Objectives
• Understand the Emotional Impact of TFMR: Recognize the complex grief and emotional challenges associated with ending a wanted pregnancy for medical reasons. • Identify Barriers to Support: Explore the societal, legal, and personal obstacles that individuals may face when seeking mental health support post-TFMR. • Implement Supportive Strategies: Learn approaches to provide compassionate and nonjudgmental care to those grieving a TFMR. • Promote Healing and Resilience: Develop techniques to support individuals in their healing journey, fostering resilience and hope.

About the Instructor
Jane Armstrong is a licensed clinical social worker & board-approved clinical supervisor (LCSW-S) in the state of Texas. She is also certified in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International (PMH-C) and continues extensive & ongoing training on mental health during pregnancy & the postpartum period (including following TFMR/loss).
