About the Course

This course provides an in-depth exploration of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD) in the context of perinatal loss. Participants will learn to differentiate between these two disorders, explore their diagnostic criteria, and understand the impact of traumatic loss on mental health. Trauma-informed care practices will be discussed, equipping healthcare providers with the tools to support individuals through their grief and healing process. The course also covers therapeutic interventions to foster resilience and long-term healing after traumatic loss.

About the Instructor

Gen Judayna Elmahdi, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker based in Indiana. Gen owns a private practice specializing in trauma and perinatal mental health. Gen began focusing her own practice towards trauma and maternal health following her own traumatic birth experience, after which she noted a significant deficit in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of trauma-related conditions in the maternal population. Gen has extended knowledge of evidence-based treatments for trauma-related conditions including EMDR, cognitive processing therapy, and prolonged exposure therapy.
